A vital member of our head office team is our BDM, Luke. He is very knowledgeable about the Healthy Homes Standards and loves a chat! Read on to find out what he has to say about the standards.
What is your experience with the Healthy Homes Standards and Assessments?
“I started initially in 2019 when the standards first got released. I carried out the assessments and completed over 1200 assessments as a technician. Once I had an extensive knowledge with the healthy homes standards, I moved into something which I didn’t know I would love, and that was sales. This is a job that I thrive at, and with my proven track record I landed myself a managerial role of a national company.”
What are you most passionate about within Healthy Homes New Zealand?
“The thing that I am most passionate about is helping our clients and not seeing the stress with tight deadlines and confusion around why their two-year-old heat pump is not compliant. I take pride in the solutions and information I have gathered through constantly reading the legislation and the RTA to turn these unhappy people around so that they understand the perspective beyond cost, and that it’s great to see more healthy homes. It’s nice to know that we will be helping the tenant’s health as well as providing top quality consultations and recommendations to improve homes and comply with the law.”
Which Healthy Homes Standard is most important to you?
“It has got to be heating. Coming from the UK and knowing how cold it is with no central heating in the house and constantly waking up freezing, it can’t be good for a person’s health and wellbeing. Seeing the facts in New Zealand around respiratory disease, it is evident that the quality of houses are a big player in this, especially in rental properties.”
